Mavericks

I was wake by 5am, and on the road at 5:45. At 8am, I was in Half Moon Bay, and by 8:30 I was on the beach TRYING to find the surfers. Rumor is the waves break 1/2 mile out. More like a mile.

A bunch of people were up high on this dangerous, slippery, muddy cliff, with obvious better views. So I tried to get up there, but was told it was for Media Only.

I walked about 20 yards away, went to the Media Check in.

I did some acting, I told some fibs, dropped some names, and told some truth, and 3 minutes later, had my own media pass.

You get no good shots from following the rules

I was up on the hill in a matter of minutes. Still not the best vantage point.
This is a VERY cropped part of a shot I took at 400mm.

A very big thanks to my friend and contact Deborah Lattimore who gave me plenty of suggestions on where to go and what to expect when I got there. Needless to say, she was on one of the press boats and... her view was a bit better.
