The Western Area Peninsula in Sierra Leone was once all covered by forests. Today, most of the vegetation was destroyed in consequence of the past war, residential constructions and developmental projects. The national capital, Freetown, and all human settlements nearby depends on the ecological services offered by the forests of the regions like water, climate regulation, etc. Climate change is making matters worse. As climate change deepens, the consequences of the loss of vegetation just increases. Water becomes more scarce, floods more frequent, food production decreases. Save the forests, Protect the environment!

This is Ogoo Farm, it is very close to the national capital, Freetown. Here it is produced some of the food that feeds the capital. Local farms are a solution for the food scarcity in the country. The food production in Sierra Leone is still on the low, the government still need to import most of the food, including rice. Climate change affects the food production and developing countries are the most affected.

Fossil fuel are the main source of energy in Sierra Leone. The government spends millions of dollars to import petroleum and is vulnerable to changes in a volatile and unsustainable market. To face climate change, Sierra Leone needs to invest in sustainable energy and explore the potentialities of the country, like biofuel.

This gold fan is really pretty. It's a Barbie Dolls of the World Japan fan, but it doesn't fold up like the Maguna fan in the previous photos. This particular one, I had also wanted to submit for the photo contest. It was hard to choose.
